Beepl Privacy Policy

First up, your privacy is of utmost importance to us and is something we value greatly. Therefore, at Beepl we have a few driving principles:

  • We never ask you for personal information unless we truly need it.
  • We don't share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop our products, or protect our rights.
  • We only store personal information on our servers required for the on-going operation of Beepl.com and related services.
  • With a few exceptions (e.g. private Direct Questions and related answers), Beepl.com pages are publicly displayed and available to search engines. Therefore, we ask you not to use Beepl to put information into the public domain that you would rather not be there or that could violate somebody else's privacy.

Specifically, Beepl lets users ask questions that automatically reach users who we consider are the most able to answer them or have shown an interest in the related topic, and in order to provide this type of functionality, we collect limited information about a user's interests ('Interest Graph') and measure their expertise in various topics, while at all times remaining sensitive to their privacy. This includes publicly available profiles on third-party sites (e.g. Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn) that are associated with your Beepl account. This information is used to display the most relevant content to a user after they have signed in.

Also, similar to other search and measurement services, we may more generally crawl or index any public profiles on 3rd party sites. If this is something that you are uncomfortable with it's advised that you make use of privacy controls within those services (e.g. Facebook) to block access.

We use cookies and log files to enable login, access to features and to improve the user experience overall. You may turn cookies off in your browser but doing so will likely result in the site being unusable.

Advertising partners and third-party analytics services

Any ads appearing on Beepl may be delivered to users by advertising partners, who may also set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognise your computer each time they send you an online advertisement to compile information about you or others who use your computer. This information allows ad networks to, among other things, deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you.

Third-party analytics services collect some potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for site visitors, again to be used for the purpose of better understanding how Beepl visitors use the site.

Finally, Beepl discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organisations that need to know that information in order to process it on our behalf or if absolutely required to do so under the law.
